The Ore Meridian Ore Ships

This was a series of large ocean-going ore ships built in the late 1950s. Experience with the 60,000 ton Ore Chief class ships showed that it was difficult to navigate in the Orinoco River with very large, deep-draft ships, so these were built to facilitate that trade.
